Two charged over $45,000 alleged fraud at Lower Mainland casinos
Police say one of the accused worked at a New Westminster casino; both have been ordered to stay out of B.C. casinos while the case proceeds.

Two Metro Vancouver residents have been charged with fraud over an alleged scheme that police say took about $45,000 from casinos in the Lower Mainland. Yu Ju (Jessica) Lu, 50, of White Rock and Inderjit Singh, 39, of New Westminster each face one count of fraud over $5,000.
Police said the money was obtained through a series of fraudulent transactions over roughly two weeks, from mid-March to early April 2025.
According to the New Westminster court registry, the transactions are alleged to have taken place at Starlight Casino in New Westminster, Hard Rock Casino in Coquitlam, Cascades Casino in Langley, Elements in Surrey and River Rock Casino in Richmond.
Casino employee among accused
One of the two was working at a casino in New Westminster at the time, police said. The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of B.C. (CFSEU-BC) confirmed Lu was that employee.
The unit's Joint Illegal Gaming Investigation Team began investigating in April 2025 after reports of fraudulent transactions at several casino locations, and later identified both suspects.
The BC Prosecution Service approved the charges and warrants were issued for both. Singh turned himself in to police, and Lu did so the following day.
Barred from casinos
Both were released on conditions, including that they not attend any casino in British Columbia, according to the court registry. Their next appearance in New Westminster provincial court was set for Dec. 17.
Police have not described how the alleged fraud worked or how it was detected. The charges have not been proven in court, and neither accused has commented publicly.
