Editorial policy

Last updated: October 9, 2026

Canadian Gaming News reports on land-based gaming in Canada. We cover the industry, its regulators and its effect on communities. We are a news publication: we don't offer gambling, take bets or encourage anyone to gamble.

Independence

  • We don't accept payment, gifts or favours in exchange for coverage.
  • We don't publish sponsored stories, paid links or advertorials.
  • We don't carry gambling advertising, affiliate links, promotions or sign-up offers, and we have no commercial relationship with any gambling operator.

What we don't publish

  • Odds, tips, picks or betting advice of any kind.
  • Reviews or rankings of gambling operators.
  • Coverage of online gambling. Our beat is land-based gaming and the public policy around it.
  • Anything aimed at people under the legal gambling age.

Sources and attribution

Our stories draw on regulator decisions, court rulings, government releases, council records, company announcements and reporting by other news organizations. We write every story in our own words, attribute quotes to the person or organization that said them, and list and link the sources each story relies on at the end of the story. We don't use gambling affiliate or marketing sites as sources.

Crime and court reporting

Everyone charged with an offence is presumed innocent until proven guilty. We report charges and allegations as exactly that, we say when charges have not been proven in court, and we respect publication bans and the protections for young people under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. If a case you see in our coverage ends in a withdrawal, stay or acquittal, tell us and we will update the story.

Corrections and updates

We correct factual errors as soon as we confirm them, and we add a note at the end of the story saying what changed and when. Minor fixes to spelling or style aren't noted. To report an error, use our contact page or email [email protected].

Photographs

Our photos come from Wikimedia Commons under free licences (CC0, CC BY or CC BY-SA). Each is credited to its photographer with a link to the original file and its licence. Some stories use a general image of the community or of gaming equipment when no photo of the venue itself is available, and the caption says so.

Responsible gambling

Gambling is for adults only, and it can cause serious harm. Every page of this site links to our gambling help page, which lists free, confidential support in each province and territory.
