Snuneymuxw-owned Petroglyph closes purchase of Chances Maple Ridge
The First Nation's gaming company adds a third B.C. property, bought from Great Canadian Entertainment, to a portfolio that includes Nanaimo and Victoria.

Petroglyph Development Group (PDG), the gaming company owned by Snuneymuxw First Nation, has completed its purchase of Chances Maple Ridge from Great Canadian Entertainment.
The two companies announced the closing in a joint release, according to a report by InterGame. Chances Maple Ridge has served the community since it opened in 2013.
The property joins PDG's existing casinos, Casino Nanaimo and Elements Casino Victoria, which it bought from Great Canadian in deals that closed in January 2025. PDG and Great Canadian first announced the Maple Ridge agreement on Oct. 30, 2025, alongside a deal for PDG to buy River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond. InterGame also noted an agreement covering Great Canadian Casino Vancouver.
Revenue returns to the Nation
PDG is wholly owned by Snuneymuxw First Nation and serves as its vehicle for long-term economic self-determination. Revenue from Chances Maple Ridge and PDG's other properties goes back to Snuneymuxw.
That money funds monthly payments to Elders, community distributions, a firewood distribution program, scholarships and bursaries, and community maintenance.
Snuneymuxw acknowledged the Katzie people, on whose territory Chances Maple Ridge operates.
Leaders mark the deal
Chief Mike Wyse of Snuneymuxw First Nation called the closing "an important moment for Snuneymuxw." He said the property now joins a portfolio that supports the Nation's long-term prosperity.
Great Canadian, founded in 1982, operates gaming and hospitality venues in Ontario, British Columbia, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Its CEO, Matt Anfinson, described the sale as an important step in PDG's growth in the Metro Vancouver market. He said the two teams worked closely to complete it, as they did on the earlier Nanaimo and Victoria sales.
Erralyn Joseph, PDG's president, said each acquisition strengthens the company's position. She said PDG is the largest Indigenous gaming operator in British Columbia and the largest Indigenous-owned gaming operator in Canada by revenue.
