Snuneymuxw company completes purchase of Great Canadian Casino Vancouver
Petroglyph Development Group adds the Coquitlam casino to a growing portfolio, making it Canada's largest Indigenous-owned gaming operator by revenue.

Petroglyph Development Group (PDG), a wholly owned corporation of the Snuneymuxw First Nation, has completed its purchase of Great Canadian Casino Vancouver in Coquitlam, B.C. Snuneymuxw is based on Vancouver Island, around Nanaimo.
The casino was previously owned by Great Canadian Entertainment. It offers gaming, dining and live entertainment, including The Show Theatre. The two companies first announced the agreement on December 19, 2025. At the time, Snuneymuxw Chief Mike Wyse called it another step toward economic self-determination for the Nation, and said it would support long-term prosperity and financial independence.
Fourth deal in a series
It is the fourth transaction between PDG and Great Canadian. PDG bought Casino Nanaimo and Elements Casino Victoria earlier, and its purchase of Chances Maple Ridge closed the week before, iNTERGAME reported.
With the Coquitlam casino added, PDG is now the largest Indigenous-owned gaming operator in Canada by revenue.
Operating on Kwikwetlem territory
The casino sits on the territory of the Kwikwetlem First Nation. Erralyn Joseph, PDG's president, said operating on Kwikwetlem territory is a responsibility the company takes seriously. She said its growth is grounded in sustainable, self-determined development and Nation-to-Nation relationships.
Snuneymuxw Chief Michael Wyse said the deal reflects "the sustained effort and vision of Snuneymuxw people across generations." He described it as part of building an economy that funds the Nation's priorities and creates opportunities for its members.
When the deal was first announced, Joseph said PDG had grown from three companies to 13 over the previous 10 years, and planned a measured, strategic approach to growth.
PDG's run of purchases was not finished. In June 2026, Great Canadian closed the sale of River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond to a partnership of PDG and Musqueam Capital Corp. River Rock, which opened on the Fraser River in 2004, became the fifth casino property to pass from Great Canadian to PDG.
